4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but not perfect, November 28, 2007

The unit is very nice looking but perhaps the size is a little overkill. I like being able to place it against the wall and out of the way. Does a decent job of heating a poorly insulated room that is about 300 sq. feet with no other heat source. I was able to maintain the room at 60 degrees when the outside temperature dipped to freezing recently. My main gripe is that the heat comes out near the top of the unit (about 2' above the floor). You can't direct the airflow any lower than horizontal so it stays pretty cold on the floor. Just being about to blow the warm air downward would make me change this rating to a 5 star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for small rooms, December 28, 2007

If you are looking for a cost-effective way to heat small rooms, the Lasko 758000 Cyclonic Ceramic Heater is a great buy. In order to be succinct, please find the "pros" and "cons" below.

Pros:
* Effective and easy-to-understand controls that allow for automatic settings governed by temperature objectives or heating by high or low output
* An illuminated display (easily viewable from 5-10 yards) that indicates the surrounding room temperature
* Directional control for heat output
* Nice form factor that allows for flexible floor placement in terms of space needed and general aesthetics

Cons:
* At higher temperature settings, the unit generates a little noise. To be fair, however, the sound is similar to and no more imposing that a PC or Printer

All in all, this is a good unit for rooms that central heating does not reach effectively. I would definitely buy another unit should the occasion arise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quality unit, November 26, 2007

I bought this unit to heat a finished basement. Like everybody, I did the research, read the reviews and weeded through the hundreds of makes, models and different type space heaters. For the money this is a good unit. It does exactly what it advertises and I am a happy camper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compact heater, April 16, 2008
This review is from: Pelonis Heater/fan 3 Heat Settings
This is a great product. I have 2 Pelonis heaters. This one operates very quietly and has the advantage of using lower wattage settings than other similar heaters. Low operates at 600 watts which is the reason I bought this heater. It also has a thermostat which is nice. It doesn't smell like many ceramic heaters when they heat up. It produces uniform heat and doesn't blow really hard (the fan speed isn't really high).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compact heater for the price!, December 15, 2010

This review is from: Pelonis Heater/fan 3 Heat Settings
I have central heat, but for whatever reason by the time the air gets to the vents in my room, it's cold and my infant son sleeps in the room with me so I need it warm. The heater I was using ( Lasko 6410 Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater) only adjusts the thermostat in 5 degree increments but 70 let the room get to about 65 before it kicked on and heated the room to around 80 if I picked 75, so there was no happy medium.

From all the heaters I've looked at and the ones we have in the house (2 different models of Lasko oscillating ceramic heaters, which are digitally programmable but have annoying beeps, only have 1500w and 900w settings, no fan only setting, and cost almost twice as much), this is the best value. I personally do prefer a ceramic heater (I think they're safer and faster at heating a room), but I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd time purchase, January 22, 2010

This review is from: Pelonis Heater/fan 3 Heat Settings
This fan replaced my old Pelonis fan that finally died after ten years or so. I like that it has three heat settings and an adjustable fan. The internal thermostat will kick it off when it reaches that stage. If it gets knocked off the surface that it's sitting on, it will cut off. It provides the instant direct heat that I wanted. It keeps my home office nice a toasty without me having to warm up the whole house by turning the main thermostat up. I would buy this fan again and again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally a room heater that does just that. no bonus noise, weight or danger, October 15, 2007

This product is very similar to the higher priced BH3900. The review below also applies to this.
---
My new home came with central heating. I loved the convenience, but wanted a heater for the bedroom so I didn't have to heat the entire home through the night, when it was only one room we needed heat in. There began my quest for a portable electric heater!

My first try was a Bionaire Digital Tower Ceramic Heater. It went right back to the store the moment I realized how powerful (read : noisy) the fan inside was. It did do a decent job warming up the room though.

I knew I'd like something quiet. Real quiet. My next try was an Oil Filled Radiator. It was much quieter - just low clicking sounds (probably from the metal or oil expanding?) - but failed to impress on heating. It took almost an hour to make a significant difference to a cold room (12x14) - and barely kept the temperature up through the night with the thermostat dialled up. When in use - the... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars good customer service, April 11, 2009

This review is from: Bionaire BH3950-U Silent Micathermic Console Heater (Kitchen)
We bought this model from Costco in October, 2006 and used it for about two years, with pretty much continual usage from October to May. It's quiet and puts out enough heat for a large room. It stopped working after two years. I noticed that it was still under warranty so I contacted (emailed) customer service at Bionaire. They were very cooperative and sent us a new unit at no charge.

I disassembled the older unit and it seemed well built. I found that the on off switch was broken. This is a "snap in" plastic switch and if you are careful you can pry it out of the faceplate with a small screwdriver or knife. For those of you who may have a similar problem the switch is a round, illuminated SPST rocker type and it's made by a factory in China under the brand name RLEIL model RL3-5. Either the switch broke and then fried or it overheated and some plastic melted internally. In any case the switch doesn't appear to be as heavy duty as it should be and I would recommend... 5.0 out of 5 stars Went from skeptic to believer!, November 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Bionaire BH3950-U Silent Micathermic Console Heater (Kitchen)
One of the reasons I like shopping at Amazon is that you get to research the product you're interested in by getting some real feedback on the product from actual owners. I find that part extremely valuable. Anyway back to my thoughts on the Bionaire BH3950-U Silent Micathermic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat. Keep in mind I only had this heater for a few days. First thing is that shipping was incredibly fast. I selected Super Saver shipping which knocked out the shipping charge and I was expecting it to arrive a bit slower than regular shipping but to my surprise I received the heater in 2 days. I was not expecting that at all. There is a bit of assembly required with this heater but trust me, it is minimal. You'll just have to attach a set of wheels, a set of foot pegs and then the handle. All of it was done without tools. Yes that's right. Without tools. The screws that were supplied were the wing-nut or thumbscrew type so you honestly don't need a screwdriver and the assembly...
